Bangladesh Japan Information Technology (BJIT) has won the ‘BASIS Luna Shamsuddoha Award’ as a special recognition for being the largest employer of women.
This was an inspiring initiative by the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) to celebrate the participation of women in the workforce and the recognition of femininity in our society.
The idea was inspired by BASIS in honor of Mrs. Luna Shamsuddoha, a pioneering entrepreneur from Bangladesh who has made a significant contribution to the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry.
BJIT was awarded the largest employer of women in the software company category, and the award was received by Hosna Ara Jasmine, Vice President and Head of Finance, BJIT Limited.
Mehedi Masud, COO of BJIT Limited also represented the management of BJIT. Among the board members of BASIS companies, Genex Infosys received the award for the highest employment of women in the BPO company category, and social enterprise Dnet for the highest employment of women in the male-female ratio category.
The award ceremony was hosted by Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Honorable Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament, who was present as the chief guest. Dr. Dipu Moni, MP, Honorable Minister of Education, Government of Bangladesh; Mr. Salman F Rahman, MP, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh; and Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, Honorable State Minister for ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh were the special guests.
BJIT currently has over 750+ engineers and administrative staff working at BJIT, and a significant number of them are female. Not only that but most of the key positions are also held by women.
Our Vice President Head of Finance, Mrs. Hosna Ara Jasmine, is an inspiring example to reflect on the broader approach followed at BJIT.
